The president of the provincial institution, Benjamín Prieto, has met with a representation of the Board of Directors of this polyphonic group, headed by its president, Marisol Alcalá, which is going to participate in the 55th European Festival of 2018, which will take place on the 25th. to July 29 in the Portuguese town of Viseu
The Provincial Council of Cuenca will support the Switzerland Phone Numbers 6 Million List Masa Coral Association of Minglanilla in its participation in the 55th European Festival of 2018, the largest folklore festival in Europe, which will take place from July 25 to 29 in the Portuguese town of Viseu. This was communicated by the president of the provincial institution, Benjamín Prieto, during the meeting recently held at the Provincial Palace with a representation of the Board of Directors of this polyphonic group, headed by its president Marisol Alcalá.
Prieto has highlighted the special interest of the Provincial Council in the promotion of culture, which is materialized with different lines of support, such as the well-known Talía Program, with the aim of not only collaborating with groups in the province, be they music bands, choirs, folk groups, rondallas, choral masses, etc..., but also to contribute to the revitalization of the cultural activity of our municipalities.
And, from his point of view, we must keep in mind the outstanding role of these groups, both in the maintenance and enrichment of our musical heritage and in the introduction of fans into the world of music; all of this, without leaving aside its projection outside our borders with participation in international events. Such is the case of the Masa Coral Association of Minglanilla, which this year intends to participate in the 55th edition of the European Championship in Viseu (Portugal), where so far more than 5,000 people from more than 188 groups of 23 nationalities have registered. Figures that, in his opinion, make it an unparalleled showcase to promote and make the name of Minglanilla and Cuenca known in Europe.

It is not surprising, therefore, that the president of the Provincial Council has chosen to support this polyphonic group in this European adventure, by the way, the third in its history, since they already did so in the 2007 and 2010 editions of this international festival, held in Horsens (Denmark) and Bolzano (Italy), respectively.
The Minglanilla Mass Choir, founded in 1995, is currently made up of 48 mixed voices under the direction of Vicente Almarche Pons, it has a repertoire that ranges from classical polyphony and popular polyphony to sung masses, Christmas music and habaneras, etc. and is a member of the Talía Program.
